California Coalition for Rural Housing A rural membership advocacy organization that provides research and technical assistance to improve rural housing and to strengthen the capacity of the nonprofit and public sectors to provide affordable housing and related facilities.
California Department of Housing and Community Development Provides leadership, policies and programs to expand and preserve safe and affordable housing opportunities and to promote strong communities for all Californians.
California Housing Partnership Corporation Provides financial consulting on tax credits, tax exempt bonds, and other affordable housing programs; works to preserve at-risk affordable housing; and offers training and technical assistance in affordable housing finance.
Enterprise Foundation A national housing and community development organization that offers useful journals and an online Best Practices Database.
Housing Assistance Council Provides financing, technical assistance, and program and policy analysis about rural affordable housing.
Housing California A statewide affordable housing and homeless advocacy group that offers updates and alerts on state legislation having to do with affordable housing, community development and welfare reform.
Low Income Investment Fund A national organization that provides financing and technical expertise for nonprofit organizations that serve poor families including loans for all phases of capital projects and operating lines of credit.
Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) A national intermediary that channels resources to urban and rural communities.
National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty Serves as the legal arm of the nationwide movement to end homelessness, focusing on the shortage of affordable housing, insufficient income, and inadequate social services.
National Housing Institute Examines what does and does not work in community building and offers information on national housing issues, research and reports, and the magazine Shelterforce.
National Housing Trust Works to preserve existing affordable housing, particularly multi-family housing assisted, owned, or controlled by a federal agency and offers consulting services to local housing agencies, nonprofits, community development corporations, and low-income residents.
National Low Income Housing Coalition A national membership association committed to decent, affordable housing for everyone. Provides up-to-date information, formulates policy, and educates the public on housing needs and offers research, reports and the weekly publication, Memo to Members, which provides federal legislative updates.
NeighborWorks America A national nonprofit organization created by Congress to provide financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based revitalization efforts.
Nonprofit Housing Association A regional, membership association that advocates for the development of affordable housing for low-income families in the Bay Area and Northern California.
Northern California Community Loan Fund Provides financing and technical expertise for nonprofit organizations in Northern and Central California including in-depth consultation and workshops focused on financial management and debt and facility readiness.
US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) The federal agency responsible for national policy and programs that address the country's housing needs. HUD offers information on public housing, HUD budgets and programs, and rental and home buying assistance.
