Recognizing that no two neighborhoods are alike, and no one community’s needs can ever be fully anticipated, the Cowell Foundation makes responsive grants to supplement our place-based work in Family Resource Centers, K-12 Public Education, Youth Development, and Affordable Housing.
| Responsive grants are typically available for communities that already receive support from Cowell and have a critical need or unique circumstance which falls beyond the parameters of the Foundation’s four main program priorities. The Foundation is not likely to enter a new community for the first time by making a responsive grant. |
|
Cowell’s responsive grants usually fall into one of two categories: capital projects or leadership development.
By design, however, each responsive grant the Foundation makes looks different from the last. We might fund construction of a neighborhood health center or dining facility in one community, and help train emerging nonprofit leaders in another.
If your organization is currently working in a Cowell-supported community and you have a project that you think might qualify for a responsive grant, we encourage you to speak to your program officer.
