The S.H. Cowell Foundation works to improve the lives of children living in poverty in Northern and Central California by making grants and providing support to strengthen families and communities.
The Foundation was established in 1956 through a $12.5 million bequest from S.H. Cowell. In the half-century since, Cowell has made more than $220 million in grants to 3,700 organizations.
| In 2006, we made nearly $11 million in grants to underserved children, youth and families. We focus on five complementary program areas: Family Resource Centers, K-12 Public Education, Youth Development, Affordable Housing, and Responsive grantmaking. |
